Step 1: Access Your Profile Settings

Step 2: Customize Your Avatar

- Navigate to the Avatar section in your profile
- Click "Upload New Avatar" or "Choose from Gallery"
- For uploads: Select image (JPG, PNG, max 5MB)
- Crop and position your image
- Preview changes before saving
- Click "Save Avatar" to apply changes

- •Avoid offensive or inappropriate content
- •Square images work best (recommended: 512x512px)
- •No copyrighted material without permission
Step 3: Enable Two-Factor Authentication

- Download an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator)
- Navigate to Profile → Security Settings → Authenticator App
- Click "Enable Authenticator App"
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
- Enter the 6-digit code from the app to confirm setup
- CRITICAL: Save your backup codes in a secure location
Backup codes are your ONLY recovery method if you:
- • Lose your phone
- • Uninstall your authenticator app
- • Switch to a new device
- • Factory reset your phone
Store these codes offline in a safe place (password manager, printed paper in a safe). Each code can be used once.

• Without backup codes, losing your 2FA device means losing account access
• Account recovery takes 7-14 days and requires extensive verification

Set a unique code that appears in all official NYYU emails to verify authenticity

If you lose your 2FA device without backup codes, account recovery takes weeks and requires extensive verification. Always store codes in 2+ secure locations.
SMS can be intercepted through SIM swapping attacks. Use authenticator app as primary method and SMS as backup only. Authenticator apps work offline and are much more secure.
Not setting up an anti-phishing code makes you vulnerable to fake emails pretending to be from NYYU. Always verify your personal anti-phishing code appears in all official NYYU emails.
Using fake IDs, altered documents, or false information results in permanent account ban and loss of funds. NYYU uses advanced verification systems that detect fraud. Always provide genuine, accurate documentation.
